Hi –
I am facing a weird problem. I installed policy server which is pointing to an LDAP policy store. I was able to successfully test the connection to the policy store from the policy server. I also registered the siteminder super user using the XPSRegClient utility on the policy server host. Then I installed wamui on another server. Now, when I try to login to the admin ui, I get the error Invalid username password combination even though I provide the correct credentials.
I tried reinstalling the components several times but no luck. Did anyone run into the same issue?
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like something may have been misconfigured. Check out this blog post for how to switch back to being able to use the "siteminder" user to log in.

Todd - Thanks for the quick reply. I tried it out, but resulted in no luck. In the first place, I was never able to login to the wam ui at all. On the policy server host, I was able to confirm the super user credentials through the management console. I enter the same credentials on the wam ui login screen, it doesn't work.
You registered the WAM UI with the policy server?
Yes I did.
When you first install the policy server the "siteminder" user is created by default. You don't need to register any additional user. If this is a directory that you are configuring manually, use smreg to create the SiteMinder user. smreg is in the install kit.
No luck again. Well. I ain't sure what is going wrong? Everything seems to be alright.
Sorry, not sure what else to suggest. Turn on the profiler tracing on the policy server and you may get more details on what is going on in the smtracedefault.log...
There might be some issue with the siteminder account. You should see some error related to this in smps.log
Are you able to login to fss ui ?
if yes, try the following...
1. Login to FSS UI and create an administrator account "smadmin" by selecting the "siteminder database"
2. now run the XPSRegclient -adminui-setup smadmin:xxxxxx -vT
3. Launch WAM UI and enter smadmin as the user id, whatever passphrase u used in step2 as the password and policy server host name and see if you can login.
4. If the login is successful then go to administrators and delete the siteminder administrator account and recrete it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses Ram & Todd. I was able to resolve the issue. It was just a windows firewall that was blocking creation of siteminder objects in my policy store. Apparently, my policy store was empty. I turned off the firewall and did a re-install, it started working like a charm.
Thanks again for your help.
